Hello, welcome to Instant Organic Garden. I'm Don Rosenberg and I've been growing vegetables in my back yard in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the last twenty years. When it came time for a career change, I decided to do something that I really enjoy, and help others in my area learn how to garden, too. See some gardens - 1, 2, and a new community garden at Holy Angels in Belmont, NC.

When I talk with people about gardening, I find that although many people would love to have their own vegetable garden they think they're too busy to even get started. Face it, everybody nowadays has two or three jobs, two or three kids, countless errands to run, and gardening is a lot of work, right?

That's what I felt, too. So over the last twenty years I've been working on ways to make gardening easier and easier. I've worked out a system that uses what I've learned about the ancient techniques of intensive terrace gardening and the latest research on materials, soils and organic gardening. With my new system my goal is to take out 90% of the physical work in getting your garden started and keeping it running, and 90% of the mental work of deciding?

  • Where will I put it in my yard?
  • How much room will I need?
  • What materials should I use?
  • How should I prepare the soil?
  • What vegetables will it make sense to grow?
  • Which varieties?
  • When do I plant them?

Instead of just providing raised bed materials and dirt, we offer a three step process that starts with planning and vegetable selection, continues with installation and initial planting of your garden and then provides ongoing support throughout the growing season.

We will...
1. discuss the placement of your
raised bed garden, vegetable varieties, different garden styles, garden size, and generate a four-season garden plan.

2. installation of the complete garden, including the frame for a raised bed trellis or flat bed garden, perfectly balanced WEEDLESS soil, along with slow release organic fertilizer, soil amendments and even live worms if needed.

3. support throughout the growing season with reminder emails, hints and tips, answers to your gardening questions, and optional visits at the end of each season to help plant the next season's crop.

All you have to do is pull an occasional weed, tend to your plants, water as needed, and reap your harvest!

In the Charlotte area we are blessed with a mild climate and that means we can garden all four seasons without the need for expensive covers, cold frames or greenhouses. Click a link to see what you can grow fall, winter, spring or summer!

Starting in Fall 2008, Instant Organic Garden will be teaming up with Seed Savers Exchange to provide heirloom variety seeds to our customers. These seeds have been selected from their extensive catalog for flavor and growing characteristics, but have also been selected based on uniqueness - whether it's appearance, flavor, or a particular seed's rich history. So now your gardens will not only be tasty and productive they'll also be a work of art, and every seed will have a story to tell!

THESE SEEDS ARE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR SALE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC THROUGH THIS WEBSITE. Clients of Instant Organic Garden in Charlotte, NC, can go through the online Veggie Quiz list and place "fake" orders to let me know which varieties you prefer in your garden.

So feel free to go through my website by clicking on various categories on the left hand side - there's lots of useful information about starting your own garden and a lot more details on my business and the services I offer.
